Step 1:
Obtaining a Free Business
Registration
LLC Registration - most city, county and state governments require business owners to Register Your Business. You can file a dba doing business as certificate instead because you either have to file the dba, form an llc or Register Your Business as a corporation.
In some cases, in addition to the state LLC Registration, the federal government may also require you to get special Business Registration Papers, depending on the type of business or your business location business.

Step 1 - RECORDING NEW BUSINESS ENTITIES
As discussed, you will need a certificate recorded for your legal business structure. That is usually an one page document that has to be officially filed with the appropriate government agency.

In addition to the licenses, you will need to obtain a state employer Id if you are an employer, and a sales tax ID ( seller's Permit) if you need to buy wholesale or collect sales tax.
